Clean the removed earpieces daily with the use of a soft, damp cloth or the cleaning tools provided by EarCentric.
Carefully inspect the earpiece opening while cleaning. There shouldn't be any block because the sound coming in and out of the hearing aid will be distorted or even completely unheard. Thoroughly clean the earpiece at least once in a week.
Seek professional care if:
- You experience any pain or discomfort despite of correct earpiece placement
- Earwax is irremovable from the earpiece opening
- The earpiece tube is brittle and discolored
- The hearing aid begins to whistle and the volume can no longer be adjusted
Important for Behind-the-Ear hearing aids
Before cleaning the hearing aid, make sure to detach the earpieces from the body. The hearing aid should never get wet! Make sure that the earpieces are dry when reattaching them to the hearing aids. The best way to dry the air from within the tubes is with the use of an air puffer (never blow the air through the ear tubes from your mouth.)
